Lower Bucks Hospital Commemorates 9/11: Honoring the Fallen on the 25th Anniversary
Bristol, PA (September 11, 2026) —On the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Lower Bucks Hospital held a solemn ceremony to honor and remember those who lost their lives. The event was attended by hospital employees and featured poignant speeches, reflections, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the hospital’s flagpole, which was held at half-mast.
CEO Michael Motte addressed the gathering, reflecting on the profound impact of 9/11 on both a national and local scale. “Today, we remember not only the 2,977 souls lost nationwide but also the 18 residents of Bucks County who were tragically taken from us. Their memory serves as a reminder of the resilience and unity that emerged from such darkness,” said Motte.
The event also highlighted the contributions of those who served in the military. Security Manager John Helton and Director of Surgery Maximillian Santiago, both veterans, were present to pay their respects. Their presence underscored the deep connection between military service and the sacrifices made by many on 9/11.
Chief Nursing Officer Renee Stewart shared her thoughts on the enduring legacy of 9/11. “As healthcare providers, we are reminded daily of the importance of compassion and care. Today, we stand together as a community to honor those we have lost and to support the families who continue to grieve. Our commitment is to never forget and to educate future generations about the impact of this day,” Stewart remarked.
The ceremony included the laying of a wreath at the hospital’s flagpole, a symbolic gesture to honor the victims. Bucks County, bearing the highest 9/11 death toll in Pennsylvania, continues to feel the weight of loss. The community’s efforts to remember and educate are vital in preserving the stories and sacrifices of those who perished.
The tragic events of September 11 affected families across the nation, leaving an indelible mark on those who lost spouses, parents, children, and siblings. In Bucks County, the memories of the 18 residents are kept alive through memorial ceremonies and community initiatives aimed at honoring their sacrifice.
Lower Bucks Hospital remains committed to being a beacon of hope and healing, ensuring that the legacy of those lost continues to inspire resilience and unity within the community.
