LOWER BUCKS HOSPITAL RECEIVES PCI
RE-ACCREDITATION FROM CORAZON

Bristol, PA (November 18, 2022) — Corazon, Inc., a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty based in Pittsburgh, PA, has granted re-accreditation to the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) program at Lower Bucks Hospital. Through a rigorous process, the accreditation reaffirms that this program at Lower Bucks Hospital has once again met or exceeded Corazon’s accreditation standards, national societal guidelines, and the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH).

“We are thrilled to receive our re-accreditation so we can continue to offer 24/7 PCI and ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) services,” said Michael Mignone, RT, Director of Medical Imaging and Cardiovascular Services at Lower Bucks Hospital. “Families can be assured they can continue to have access to lifesaving cardiac care at Lower Bucks Hospital. If the time comes when they need care emergently, we will be here to offer the best care for our community. ”

Lower Bucks Hospital has demonstrated through its accreditation survey that it is committed to providing the highest quality level of care to its patients. The staff’s dedication, hard work, and exceptional leadership have made this accreditation possible, helps enhance the cardiac service line and allows them to excel in the work they do every day on behalf of the cardiac patients.

“We are proud to partner with Corazon to demonstrate the high quality of cardiac care that our community can count on and that we can deliver consistently,” said Shahzad Ahmed, MD, a board-certified Interventional Cardiologist. “Our teams at Lower Bucks Hospital are dedicated to ‘making communities healthier’ by diagnosing and managing heart disease through various treatments and interventions.”

Corazon also offers consulting, recruitment, and interim management for heart, vascular, neuroscience, spine, and orthopedic specialties. The firm has worked with over 600 hospitals nationally to evaluate, re-engineer, or implement best-practice PCI programs. Corazon is a long-time champion for PCI without onsite open-heart surgery (OHS) and notably assisted with opening the first PCI program of this type in Pennsylvania. Additionally, Corazon was instrumental in building a consortium of hospitals to drive the legislative changes in Pennsylvania, which have expanded access to interventional cardiology services across the state. Corazon is also a verifier for PCI programs in Georgia and is a State-Named Accrediting body in Michigan.

As an accrediting agency on behalf of the PA DOH, Corazon helps to ensure lifesaving services are provided in communities across the state.
