October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Lower Bucks Hospital
This October, join us in recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the critical importance of regular mammogram screenings. Women should start having mammograms at age 40—or earlier based on individual risk factors—every one to two years. Early detection through regular screenings significantly enhances the likelihood of successful treatment.
Did you know breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in the U.S.?
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and is the most frequently diagnosed and treated cancers. Thanks to advancements in prevention, early detection, and treatment, more women diagnosed with breast cancer are living longer and enjoying a higher quality of life than ever before. State-of-the-Art 3D Mammography Technology
At Lower Bucks Hospital, our Radiology Department features a highly experienced team dedicated to providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for all patients.
3D mammograms are advantageous for nearly all women, particularly those with dense breast tissue, which is characterized by a higher ratio of fibrous or glandular tissue compared to fat. Women with dense breasts may benefit from additional imaging modalities, such as ultrasound or MRI. For individuals at a higher risk of developing breast cancer, a breast MRI may be recommended in addition to the mammogram. Ultrasound can also serve as a valuable supplemental tool for enhanced evaluation.
Our Comprehensive Screening Options Include:
– 3D mammography (tomosynthesis)
– Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
– Breast ultrasound
