Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
Dr. Shahzad Ahmed is a board-certified Interventional cardiologist who serves the diverse patient population of Bucks County in Bristol, PA. He is a clinical Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). His clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis of numerous cardiac diseases in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Since his onboarding at Lower
Bucks Hospital in 2020, he has dedicated his time to teaching medical students and residents in the internal medicine and family medicine residency program. He now serves as the cardiovascular disease program director to continue his role in educating and mentoring the younger generation who aspire to be excellent cardiovascular disease professionals.
Dr. Ahmed completed his internal medicine residency at Drexel University, affiliated with Hahnemann University Hospital in 2010. He stayed at Hahnemann University Hospital to pursue his cardiovascular disease fellowship and interventional cardiology subspecialty in the years after. He is currently Board certified in cardiovascular disease medicine, nuclear medicine and echocardiography. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is also a member of the American society of Echocardiography and Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He also holds certification as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.

Our Mission & aims
The mission of our program is to develop highly trained cardiovascular disease providers who are passionate, lifelong learners and who will provide the best care for their patients. The program focuses on teaching fellows a patient centered approach while using evidenced based medicine over the course of three years. During this journey, fellows will spend time with faculty to develop critical skills necessary to succeed in cardiac medicine, including echocardiography, nuclear medicine, peripheral and cardiac interventions among others.
