About the Program Director: Dr. Shahzad Ahmed

Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
Dr. Shahzad Ahmed is a board-certified interventional cardiologist dedicated to serving the diverse patient community in Bucks County, Bristol, PA. He holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). His clinical practice emphasizes the diagnosis and management of various cardiac diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Since joining Lower Bucks Hospital in 2020, Dr. Ahmed has devoted his efforts to educating medical students and residents within the internal medicine and family medicine residency programs. Currently, he serves as the Program Director for Cardiovascular Disease, furthering his commitment to mentoring the next generation of professionals in cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Ahmed completed his internal medicine residency at Drexel University, affiliated with Hahnemann University Hospital, in 2010. He subsequently pursued his cardiovascular disease fellowship and interventional cardiology subspecialty at Hahnemann University Hospital. He is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease medicine, nuclear medicine, and echocardiography. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, as well as a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He also holds certification as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

Our Mission & Aims
The mission of our program is to cultivate highly trained cardiovascular disease professionals who are passionate about learning and committed to delivering exceptional patient care. Over the course of three years, the program emphasizes a patient-centered approach grounded in evidence-based medicine. Throughout this journey, fellows will work closely with faculty to develop essential skills in cardiac medicine, including echocardiography, nuclear medicine, and both peripheral and cardiac interventions.
