Cardiologist, Dr. Shahzad Ahmed approved fellowship distinction

  Bristol, PA (August 06, 2020 ) – Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Shahzad Ahmed, was recently approved as a Fellow of Society of Cardiovascular Intervention (FSCAI).

Dr. Ahmed provides cardiology and interventional cardiology care for people in the Bucks County area at BMC Cardiology at Lower Bucks Hospital. He is board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Medicine, Internal Medicine, and national board certified in Echocardiography.

Dr. Ahmed has advanced specialization in coronary interventions, peripheral arterial and venous disease, and structural heart disease and is a leading expert in heart and rhythm disorders, including congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, vascular disease, sudden death prevention, and critical limb ischemia. He also specializes in nuclear stress testing, echocardiograms, and vascular testing.

FSCAI is a mark of excellence among interventional cardiologists. Only highly experienced members who have met performance standards established by Society of Cardiovascular Angiography & Intervention (SCAI) and who have garnered excellent peer recommendations can achieve the status of Fellowship in SCAI. To achieve the prestigious status, candidates undergo a review of credentials that must include letters of recommendation, made substantive contributions to the field of cardiac and/or endovascular angiography, conduct relevant research in peer-reviews in at least ten national and/or international publications, participated in one or more leadership positions, and board certification in interventional cardiology or five years of experience and performed a combined total of 2,000 diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Dr. Ahmed has years of clinical cardiology experience. After completing his internal medicine residency at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, he continued his training as an Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Fellow at Drexel. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). To add, Dr. Ahmed is the only interventional cardiologist at Lower Bucks Hospital that has ever achieved a Fellowship in SCAI.
